Music Theatre

Amelia has most recently returned from playing the roles of Regina in Rock of Ages, Vicki in The Full Monty, and the Barber/Maria in Man of La Mancha for Alpine Theatre Project.

She first trod the boards of a professional stage at 13, in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat (Really Useful Group).

She completed a BA (Performance Studies) at the University of Sydney, before graduating from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 2004 with a BA (Music Theatre). Upon graduating from WAAPA, she appeared in  ‘Shopping Centre Santa’ (James Millar), and mounted her one-woman show ‘Love For Sale’, in Sydney and Melbourne.

She created the role of Clara in James Millar and Peter Rutherford’s ‘The Hatpin’ in two workshops in 2005 and 2007.

TV appearances include  ‘Mornings With Kerri-Anne’, ‘9am With David & Kim’, ‘The Footy Show’ and ‘Australia Day Live 2007’.

She has performed at several awards ceremonies including the Sydney Theatre Awards, the Helpmann Awards, and the Australian Film Institute Awards.

She was a featured and regular guest artist in Kookaburra’s ‘Up Close and Musical’, ‘Trevor Ashley presents Showqueen Sundays’, and the APEC Cultural Gala. She regularly performs in many charity concerts including ‘Hats Off!’,‘Light the Night’, ‘World Aids Day Concert’, ‘Voices For Peace, and ‘Sydney Theatre Company Cabaret’.

In 2008, Amelia received a Green Room Award for Best Featured Ensemble in a Musical as one of the original Divas, in ‘Priscilla, Queen of the Desert The Musical’, a role she performed for almost 2 years in Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland. In 2008, she appeared in ‘The Convict’s Opera’ (Sydney Theatre Company/Out of Joint), which toured the UK in the early part of 2009.

Later in 2008, she appeared in ‘Music Book’ for The Babies Proms, then ‘LOVEBiTES’ (White Box and Onward Production) in Sydney and Perth in 2009 and 2010.

In 2010, she starred in ‘In a Pink Tutu’ (Sydney Fringe Festival) and FAME The Musical.  She also starred in ‘Side By Side By Sondheim’ (PromoThis), helped launch ‘New Musicals Australia’, and starred in a workshop of ‘A Little Touch of Chaos’ (New Musicals Australia).

In June 2011, she was a featured artist at the American Australian Association’s Summer Arts Soiree in New York.  After moving to London in 2011, Amelia reprised her role as Diva 1 in ‘Priscilla: Queen of the Desert The Musical’ on the West End.  She then mounted ‘Love For Sale’ to rave reviews.  She has toured the UK as Cherry Grosvenor in ‘Radio Times’ for The Watermill.  She was also a regular guest artist at ‘Kinky Kabaret’ and ‘Sundays in the Apartment’.

In 2013, sbe completed a run of Salzman and Cunningham’s ‘Next Thing You Know’ in the role of Lisa at the Landor Theatre in London, for which she was nominated for a Broadway World/UK award.  She also starred in concerts ‘The Craig Christie Songbook’ and ‘John Bucchino & Friends’.

After moving to New York in 2013, Amelia was a featured singer in ‘Rockers on Broadway’, and a featured soloist and musician in Alpine Theatre Project’s ‘Yuletide Affair X and XII’.  She was also a regular featured artist, singing the Australian National Anthem at events in New York including the ‘G’Day USA’ Gala in 2014 and 2016.  She performed the role of Trish in the US 1st National Tour of Kinky Boots, and as a featured soloist in the ‘Broadway Songbook Series’ at the Lincoln Center.  Most recently, she originated the role of Seirenes 2 in Sirens of Song for Milwaukee Repertory theatre.

She features on the original cast recordings for ‘Priscilla: Queen of the Desert The Muscial’ and ‘LOVEBiTES’, and is currently based in the USA.
